The Story of Eden and Kissi
Eden & Kissi is built on faith, family, and flavor. Eden recalls the Garden of Eden a place where everything was good and abundant and we chose it to reflect the atmosphere we want every guest to taste: generous, welcoming, and full of flavor. Kissi, meaning “new beginnings,” is both our founder’s name and the heart of our story. Our logo, a graceful 8 shaped like infinity with a heart at its center, symbolizes our unending alliance with God and the love that seasons every dish. From prayer and a dream in France to feeding friends in Louisville and growing into a thriving restaurant, food truck, and line of Afro-Caribbean juices and sauces, the heart of Eden & Kissi has always been the same good food cooked with love and shared in abundance.
Miss Kissi was born in Ivory Coast, West Africa, and is the oldest of 19 brothers and sisters. With no professional food training, she learned to cook from her mother and aunties, preparing daily meals for a household of twenty. Before moving from France to the United States, she prayed, “Lord, what am I going there to do?” That very night she dreamed of herself wearing a large chef’s hat. She woke up laughing but never forgot the vision. After arriving in Louisville, she cooked often for friends who loved her meals and encouraged her to share her gift with the community.
Following that prompting, Miss Kissi began selling dishes at local farmers’ markets in 2014. From those humble beginnings she expanded to a food truck, and from the truck to a brick-and-mortar restaurant, each step guided by prayer, hard work, and a heart for hospitality.
Alongside Miss Kissi now stands her son David, her right hand and trusted co-laborer. Raised in London among a vibrant Jamaican community, David developed a deep love for food as art and brings a naturally warm, welcoming spirit. His creativity and steady leadership help carry the vision forward while honoring the traditions that started it all.
Today, Eden & Kissi is more than a restaurant. We invite you to experience the rich flavors of Ivory Coast and the Caribbean, bound together by the love and infinite grace.
